2006 Performances

April 21-23

NEFFA Festival, Natick, MA.

The New England Folk Festival Association (NEFFA) puts on its annual music and dance festival each April. It has become the first dance performance for many morris teams throughout the northeast and features continuous performances in the courtyard on Saturday and Sunday.

May 1

May Day Celebration, Thornden Park water tower, Syracuse, NY.

This year is the 26th May Day celebrated on Water Tower Hill by Syracuse's original morris team, Thornden Morris. It is the Hound's 22st appearance. This year will see performances by five area morris and sword teams, as well as the much anticipated mummer play, and, as always, the Maypole dance. Come help us dance up the sun and welcome in the spring.

Performance at 6:00 am (dawn!) with Thornden Morris, Ribbonsteel Rapper, Grindstone Creek Morris, and Heartwood Morris (Ithaca).

Dancing later in the day for all who will:

  • 9:30 - 10:00 - New School
  • 10:30 -11:00 - Montessori School
  • 11:30 - 12:30 - SUNY/ESF Quad
  • 2:00ish - Gannon's Isle
  • 5:45pm - Pick Up dancing at Armory Square, look for us in front of Starbucks or near the Blue Tusk.

May 13

Red Herring Morris Day of Dance, Salem, Lynn & Nahant, MA.

This is our 8th trip to Boston for this dance event hosted by Red Herring Morris.

May 14

Lilac Sunday, Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Plain, MA.

Lilac Sunday is a spring open house for Harvard's Arnold Arboretum. Most of the Boston-area teams get together for a day of dance to help celebrate. Rose Galliard Northwest Morris coordinates and hosts the dancing. This is the Hounds' 6th appearance.

June 4

Ithaca Festival, Ithaca, NY.

A city-wide music and culture event that we have done on several occasions with Heartwood Morris. This year we're performing at the Family Fun Tent in Stewart Park from 4:00-5:00.

June 13

Local Tour, Liverpool, NY.

We are dancing with Thornden Morris at the marina in Onondaga Lake Park around 7:00pm.

July 16

Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival, Syracuse, NY.

We haven't been able to do this event for years since it generally coincides with our annual ale. We are doing a wandering tour of the festival with our friends from Thornden Morris and Snowbelt Morris from Rochester. Performance from 3:30-5:00.

August 4-6

Dog Days Ale - Year of the Fire Dog, Trumansburg, NY and environs.

We've held this ale pretty much annually since 1994. This will be our 9th time hosting it in the Finger Lakes surrounding Trumansburg, NY. See the Dog Days Ale page for more detailed information.

Westcott Street Cultural Fair, Syracuse, NY.

The Westcott Street Cultural Fair is a annual event celebrating the diversity of cultures in the free-thinking university neighborhood long known as the Westcott Nation. 11:45-12:15: parade, starting at Westcott and Euclid; 1:30-2:00: Harvard Dance Stage

November 4

NOMAD Festival of Traditional Music, Art, and Dance.
Wilbur Cross High School, New Haven, CT.

Performance 1:30-3:30 in cafeteria with New Haven Morris and Sword (hosts), Newtowne Morris Men, and Ladies of the Rolling Pin.
